On Spotify, brands can now target those who listen to podcasts.

Spotify is definitely focusing on the world of podcasts. In the last few months the streaming app has achieved a series of acquisitions, those of the specialized companies like Gimlet Media, Anchor and Parcast, which have allowed it to strengthen its offer of this kind of content above all from an editorial point of view, laying the foundations for a subsequent step: that is of monetization.

Currently, even in Europe podcasts can be branded , but the Swedish company is still refining the development of an advertising model dedicated to these contents, based on better targeting, measurement and reporting capabilities. And with regards to targeting, Spotify has just announced a novelty: the possibility for brands to target the podcast listener.

This means that the advertisers of the app will be able to identify and reach with their campaigns not only Spotify Free users who listen to music, but also those who listen to podcasts. The new segmentation tool is available in various countries: in Italy, also in the USA, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, UK, France, Germany, Spain and Australia. In these markets, it will be possible to target users based on the themes of the podcasts they listen to , such as comedy, lifestyle and health, and business and technology.

Samsung and 3M are among the first brands that are testing the novelty .

On the occasion of the last quarterly, Spotify stated that it had 123 million monthly users on the free version of its app (the one on which there is advertising). Overall, the service has 217 million users.
